The valve currently has two modes of operation, 'smart watering' and 'manual' mode. Smart Watering uses sensor and plant data to automate watering, and complies with the Environmental Protection Agency's recommendations regarding when to water your plants. When the smart watering toggle is on (yellow) the device is in smart watering mode. Each time you toggle it on, it will initiate a test watering 30 minutes later to calibrate itself and gather data about your irrigation system. It will then automatically generate a watering schedule for the week based on this test watering. The schedule is dynamic and will update every night based on that day's data. Hence, you might see the watering duration shorten if, for example, your soil moisture is still high the night before a watering. On particularly hot or dry days, smart watering may split watering events up into multiple times per day.
If you switch to manual mode by turning off smart watering, then you must manually program watering events and save them to your schedule by tapping 'save.' You can edit the schedule anytime by tapping 'edit schedule.'
We also offer a feature called 'Rain Skipping' which is also enabled by toggle. This feature will proactively skip scheduled waterings if rain is predicted that day to maximize water savings.
These three features represent the complete feature set for the water valve.
